M. Mercedes Stephenson, Ph.D., is an Adjunct Full Professor at Webster University. Dr. Stephenson has a Ph.D. from St. Louis University, an MA from the University of Southern California, and a BA from Universidad del Salvador, Buenos Aires, Argentina. Her teaching experience includes high school, community college and university levels. She regularly teaches, mentors future foreign language teachers, develops new programs and presents on foreign language methodology, the teaching of culture, and the education of under privileged students at professional meetings and conferences.

During her tenure at Webster University, she has worked in all aspects of university life, including the supervision of student teachers. Her interest in Latino populations and English Language Learners has sparked ongoing research projects. Her teaching philosophy is centered on connecting with students and developing learning communities in all her classes. Dr. Stephenson's areas of interest are: Foreign Languages, Translation and Interpretation, Inclusion and Diversity, Education, English Language Learners, and Multicultural Studies.
