Refunds and Withdrawal Waivers | Webster University

Refunds and Withdrawal Waivers

A student account refund may be owed if you withdraw from classes, receive a tuition adjustment, or if your financial aid exceeds your balance owed.  Credits from dropped classes, tuition adjustments, or financial must be posted to the student account before a credit balance is refunded.

Financial aid and other payments are first applied to any debt you owe to Webster University, such as tuition, course fees, room and board charges.  Other payments and credits may be used alone or in combination with financial aid to pay for tuition and other student account charges.  If your financial aid is more than the amount owed, the excess payments may be refunded to you.

How do I get my student account refund?

We have partnered with BankMobile to deliver your financial aid refund. To receive the student account refund, you must select a refund preference with BankMobile. For more information about BankMobile, visit this link

BankMobile contact: Recent changes require that each college and university publish any third-party contacts that are used to refund federal financial aid.  Webster University entered into a contract with a third party to process all refunds to include refunds as a result of federal financial aid credit balances.  To view our required disclosures and contract with BankMobile, a Division of Customers Bank, click here.

Refunds of overpayment or excess financial aid begin each term after the standard term add/drop period. Payments received from third party sponsors are not refunded to students. Unearned Veteran Affairs (VA) benefit payments are returned to the VA in accordance with the VA prorated schedule. Unearned military tuition assistance (TA) payments are refunded back to the sponsoring military branch in accordance with the Department of Defense Memorandum of Understanding.

Withdrawal Waivers (Course Tuition Refunds)

Effective Summer 2019, Webster University has changed the policy on Drop and Tuition Refund schedule. The Drop policy will change from two weeks to one week for all Undergraduate and Graduate students enrolled in eight-week, nine-week, and sixteen-week courses. The Tuition Refund Policy will also be adjusted and in place for all students effective Summer 2019.

Based on the below schedule, a certain percentage of tuition is waived for courses you drop or from which you withdraw.  If you have been awarded financial aid consult your Financial Aid Counselor to determine the effect that dropping or withdrawing from class will have on your award.

Flat-rate tuition refunds are made only if drops and/or withdrawals reduce the credit load below 13 credit hours. This policy does not apply to U.S. students studying at an international campus. Students attending on-campus classes in California or Georgia will receive a refund of tuition as dictated by State requirements. Refunds for affected Department of Defense Tuition Assistance students attending Webster University classes are dictated by our memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the DoD. The deposit and refund policies at our international campuses may differ; please refer to the catalog of the international campus you are attending for details. All other student refunds/tuition waivers, including those for online courses, are made according to the following schedule:
