Finding Student Jobs

Handshake is Webster University’s online career management and recruiting system utilized by students, alumni, faculty, and employers. Access Handshake at:  Please contact the Career Planning & Development Center with questions regarding setting up an account.

How to apply for a position on campus:

  1. After you are enrolled in classes, visit
  2. Login using your Webster Connections credentials.
  3. Under the “Jobs” tab on the Handshake home page, select “Job Search.”
  4. Select “On-Campus" to view all Student Employment postings.
  5. Students who have been awarded Federal Work-Study will be able to see both FWS and Institutional positions.
  6. Students who are not eligible for FWS will only be able to see Institutional positions.
  7. When you see a position that interests you, click on the job title to review the job description.
  8. Click on the “Apply” button to submit your resume and any other required documents. You can apply for multiple positions that match your interests and qualifications.
  9. Follow up with the contact person listed to express interest in the position and to inquire about the hiring process.

  • Follow the application requirements closely.
  • Submit a high quality resume.*
  • Contact the hiring manager listed on the position posting directly.
  • Network directly with supervisors, professors, campus departments, and current students to find out about open positions.
  • If you have declared a major, reach out to an individual in that department to inquire about their Student Employment plans.

If you have exhausted all of these bullet points and still have not found a position, consider making an appointment with the Student Employment Coordinator to discuss your options.
